Arsenal ‘Wengerball,’ Chelsea concern, Madrid ‘drama,’ Mourinho and Rooney

Filed under: Soccer News — admin @ 8:29 am

ESPN FC's Craig Burley says Arsenal completely controlled proceedings against a somewhat lacklustre Chelsea side.
This was peak "Wengerball." In their 3-0 win against Chelsea, this was not Arsenal in the sense of the team we see week in, week out, but the "idea" of Arsenal, the stylized utopia Arsene Wenger has been striving toward for the past decade.
You can probably count on one hand the number of times Arsenal have been this impressive against a quality opponent in the past few years. To many, the question now becomes how you interpret it. Is this a sign of things to come or is it a wonderful, magical one-off?
But…

Arsenal and Mesut Ozil must build on rampant win over rivals Chelsea

Filed under: Soccer News — admin @ 8:02 am

ESPN FC's Craig Burley was impressed by Arsenal's win over Chelsea.
Arsenal's 3-0 win over Chelsea on Saturday was a step forward for Arsene Wenger's team this season. It would be fair to say that — the opening 4-3 defeat to Liverpool aside — results had generally been better than performances.
They did have a very good 45 minutes against Watford, and there was a lot to admire when they made 11 changes for the EFL Cup game against Nottingham Forest and won 4-0, but it still felt like Arsenal hadn't really found their rhythm.
