Ante la presencia de 28 mil aficionados entre panameños y de otras partes de America Latina, el argentino Lionel Messi exibió parte de sus habilidades futbolísticas en el partido amistoso que se celebró este 15 de Julio del 2010, en el Estadio Rommel Fernández. Miles de fanáticos costarricenses y algunos cuantos ecuatorianos, colombianos y guatemaltecos se unieron a la multitudinaria marea panameña que fue al coloso de Juan Díaz a presenciar el espectáculo futbolístico. Los fanáticos panameños pudieron ver a su ídolo de cerca. Lionel Messi jugó en Panamá, anotó tres goles en la victoria de sus amigos sobre el Resto del Mundo por 6 a 4. Estrellas de la talla de Cafú, Gabriel Milito, Martín Palermo, Lucio, Juan, Marco Materazzi, Edgar Davids y Cristian Vieri deleitaron al público con su exquisito trato del balón….

Diego Martín Forlán Corazo (Spanish pronunciation: [?dje?o fo??lan]; born 19 May 1979 in Montevideo) is a Uruguayan footballer who currently plays for La Liga club Atlético Madrid and the Uruguayan national team, as a striker. He is a two-time winner of both the Pichichi Trophy and the European Golden Shoe. He was also crowned as the best player in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Forlán was born into a family of footballers, his father Pablo having played for Uruguay in the 1966 and 1974 FIFA World Cups and his grandfather, Juan Carlos Corazo, for Independiente in Argentina. A warm welcome from fans greeted the Argentine World Cup squad as they arrived back in Buenos Aires. The airport was sealed off by police, who feared an angry response from the public after the side crashed out of the tournament in a 4-0 quarter-final defeat to Germany; a bus took the team directly from the tarmac to Argentina’s Football Association headquarters, avoiding the terminal building. Only passengers, flight crews and airport workers were allowed to pass within two miles of the airport. Nevertheless, thousands of people lined the streets outside in support for the players and their coach Diego Maradona. Several among the players have asked Maradona to remain as national coach despite their somewhat embarrassing exit from this competition.
